Malik Messina-Moore Has Been Named To The BIG EAST Honor Roll

Messina-Moore is the fourth Musketeer to be honored by the league this season.
CINCINNATI --- Senior Malik Messina-Moore was named to the BIG EAST Conference Honor Roll after averaging 22.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 3.0 steals per game in games last week at Marquette on Jan. 7 and vs. Providence on Jan. 10. Messina-Moore shot 51.9 percent (14-27) for the week, including 60.0 percent (9-15) from 3-point territory. He led XU with 22 points at Marquette and led XU with 23 points in the win over Providence. In addition, he passed the 1,000-point mark for his collegiate career.
Messina-Moore, who averaged 6.8 ppg. and shot 30.6 percent from the field in the non-conference season, leads Xavier and is ranked third in the BIG EAST in league play at 17.2 ppg. Messina-Moore is shooting 46.6 percent (11th in the BIG EAST), league-leading 44.7 percent from 3-point territory and ranks third in 3-pointers per game (2.8) in league play. He has scored in double figures in all six BIG EAST games, his first double-figure scoring games since the first two games of the season.
Messina-Moore is the fourth Musketeer to earn a BIG EAST honor at least once so far this season, joining graduate student Tre Carroll (Player of the Week on Dec. 8 and Honor Roll on Dec. 22), sophomore Jovan Milićević (Honor Roll on Nov. 24) and senior Filip Borovićanin (Honor Roll on Dec. 1 and Dec. 15).
Xavier, coming off a 97-84 win over Providence on Saturday, hosts Butler on Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. XU enters the game with a 10-7 overall mark and a 2-4 record in BIG EAST play.
