STORRS, Conn. - Xavier women's basketball dropped a 97-39 contest at No. 1 UConn on Wednesday night in front of 10,244 fans at Gampel Pavilion.

The Musketeers moved to 10-11 (3-9 BIG EAST), while the Huskies improved to 22-0 (12-0 BIG EAST).

Xavier returns to action on Sunday, Feb. 1 vs Butler. Tip-off is slated for 1 p.m. from Cintas Center with the game being aired on ESPN+ and The Varsity Network.

NOTABLES

Xavier took a 15-12 lead over the Huskies on a Meri Kanerva three pointer at the 2:42 mark in the first quarter. The Musketeers hit 50 percent of their shot attempts (6-for-12) to start the game. UConn closed the frame on a 10-2 run, taking a five-point advantage (22-17) into the second quarter.
UConn hit 50 percent (8-for-16) of its shot attempts in the second quarter, outscoring Xavier, 21-7, to take a 19-point advantage into the locker room (43-24).
UConn outscored Xavier, 54-15, in the second half to pull away for the team's 38th straight victory.
Xavier committed a season-high 34 turnovers. The Huskies converted the miscues into 48 points.
Mariyah Noel scored a team-high 12 points. She also pulled down eight rebounds.
Meri Kanerva finished with 11 points on 4-for-9 shooting. The guard added two assists and one rebound.
Savannah White grabbed a game-high nine rebounds. The forward added six points and two blocks.
Vivien Nejašmić had six rebounds and one block. MacKenzie Givens finished with four points and three rebounds.
Xavier posted a .378 field-goal percentage (17-for-45) and went 2-for-13 from behind the arc. The Musketeers were also 3-for-5 from the foul line.
UConn won the battle on the glass, 32-31, and held an 11-2 advantage in second-chance points. The Huskies also scored 13 more fastbreak points (19-6) and held a 34-20 advantage in points in the paint.
UConn finished with a .522 field-goal percentage (36-for-69) and went 15-for-34 from behind the arc. The Huskies were also 10-for-13 from the foul line.
Allie Ziebell posted a game-high 34 points for the Huskies.
