ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. - At The People's Championship, the Xavier University men's golf team delivered a championship performance defined by patience, steady execution, and a dramatic finish.
The Musketeers closed with a 10-under 274 in the final round to finish 14-under par (284-280-274—838), earning a two-shot victory over Western Carolina University (840) and holding off Samford University(842) to claim the team title.
The victory capped a steady climb up the leaderboard throughout the week. Xavier opened the tournament seven shots off the lead after round one and entered the final round five shots back, positioning itself within striking distance heading into the final day.

Trailing by three shots with one hole to play, Xavier produced a decisive closing stretch as three Musketeers made birdie on the 18th hole, swinging the tournament in the final moments and securing the championship.
Xavier's consistency throughout the week was highlighted by its play on the par 4s, where the Musketeers led the field with a 3.93 scoring average (-9).
Individually, Cayse Morgan captured medalist honors with a three-round total of 11-under par (69-66-67—202). Morgan's consistent play placed him atop a strong individual field and helped anchor Xavier's team victory.
Carson Bellish added a top-10 finish for the Musketeers, tying for seventh at 5-under par (70-69-69—208).
AJ Wilhelm finished tied for 16th at 1-under (73-71-68—212), highlighted by a final-round 68.
AJ Adams closed with a final-round 70 to finish T48 (+5), while Kellen Dean added a final-round 70 of his own to finish T55 (+6).

NOTABLES
- Xavier won the Peoples Golf Championship hosted by Western Carolina on March 14. The three-day tournament was played at Sea Island Resort.
- The Musketeers posted a 54-hole score of 838 (-14) in a field of 21 teams, finishing two strokes ahead of Western Carolina (840, -12). Samford placed third with a score of 842 (-10).
- Xavier has now posted 10, top-three finishes over the last two seasons with six tournament titles. The Musketeers have finished first or second in their last five tournaments this season.
