Men's Basketball Signs Talented Guard From Prep School In Florida

Gedeon Basson had a very successful run in the 2025 U19 World Cup.
CINCINNATI --- Xavier University head coach Richard Pitino announced the signing of Gedeon Basson to an athletics aid agreement. Basson, a 6-1 and 200-pound guard from Cameroon, played most recently in the U.S. at Victory Rock Prep in Bradenton, Fla.

"We are excited to welcome Gedeon to our Xavier family," said Pitino. "He's an athletic, versatile, combo guard who will make a huge impact on the court and in the locker room."

Basson averaged 18.0 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists in the 2025 U19 World Cup last summer.

Basson is one of three incoming freshmen signed to date on the roster for the 2026-27 season, including Kalek House, a 6-3 guard from Chandler, Ariz., and Asher Elson, a 6-10 forward from Brooklyn, N.Y.
