Musketeers Pick Up a Pair of BIG EAST Weekly Awards

O'Brien named Defensive Player of the Week, Reuland picks up Rookie of the Week
NEW YORK - After helping Xavier to a 2-0 week, a pair of Musketeers earned BIG EAST Weekly Awards, the league office announced on Monday. Brooklyn O'Brien was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week, while Frances Reuland earned BIG EAST Rookie of the Week.
O'Brien scored a pair of goals, one each in of Xavier's two wins. In the second half of Xavier's 4-0 win over Dayton on Thursday, O'Brien knocked in her team-high third goal of the season, giving her six points on the year. Â Her goal in the opening minutes of Xavier's 3-1 win over Western Michigan on Sunday added to her team-high total, now at four for the year. She leads Xavier in points as well, now with eight.

Reuland collected four points on a goal and two assists in the 2-0 week for the Musketeers. In Xavier's 4-0 win over Dayton, she scored in the first half to put the Musketeers up 2-0. In Xavier's 3-1 win over Western Michigan, Reuland made her first collegiate start and collected a pair of assists, giving her three for the year. Combined with her goal against Dayton, she has five points for the year.
The Musketeers head out on the road to face Eastern Kentucky on Thursday, Sept. 17 in Richmond, Ky. The Musketeers and the Colonels get underway at 4:00 p.m. on ESPN+.
