Musketeers get goals from Garrett, Sochacki, Kohls and Bradley in 4-3 win

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Xavier women's soccer opened up BIG EAST play with a win over the preseason favorites Georgetown, holding off the Hoyas late to take a 4-3 win at Shaw Field on Saturday night. The Musketeers moved to 7-2 overall with the win, Xavier's fifth-straight victory.

Xavier struck first with Nastassja Garrett's first collegiate goal, scored off a corner kick from Regan Dancer, giving Xavier the 1-0 lead midway through the first half.

The Hoyas got on the board in the 37th minute, on a goal from Abigail Droner, but the Musketeers responded less than five minutes later, with Reese Sochacki knocking in her first of the season in the 40th minute to give Xavier the 2-1 lead.

The Musketeers took the one-goal advantage into the half, leading the Hoyas 6-3 on shots overall and 3-2 on shots on-goal in the first half.

Xavier stretched the lead to two, 3-1, less than five minutes into the second half on Peyton Kohls' fourth goal of the season, and Kieran Bradley's fourth goal of the season, off an assist from Regan Dancer stretched the Xavier advantage to three, 4-1, in the 70th minute.

The Hoyas challenged late, with Aliza Mannon scoring a pair of goals in the last 10 minutes of the match to cut the lead to one, but Georgetown was unable to pull even, setting the final score at 4-3 in favor of the Musketeers.

GU held a 12-4 advantage on shots overall after the break, but the Musketeers created four looks on frame to three for the Hoyas.

Xavier now returns home on Wednesday, September 30, to host DePaul, set for a 6:30 p.m. start on ESPN+.

The win marked the first time in program history Xavier has won back-to-back matches against the Hoyas, also topping GU in the BIG EAST Championship match in November 2025.
The victory also marked the program's first win at Shaw Field.
