Bio
Avery Lockwood came to Xavier from Indiana where she spent three seasons, earning All-Big Ten honors in each of her three campaigns as a Hoosier.
Lockwood, who is originally from Grand Rapids, Mich., started in all 39 matches she appeared in for the Hoosiers, totaling 24 points for her IU career on 10 goals and four assists.
Last season, Lockwood started in 18 matches, finishing with six points on three goals and earning All-Big Ten Third Team honors. She recorded the game-winning goal at UT Martin and also scored against Southeast Missouri State and Kansas State.
During the shortened spring 2021 season, Lockwood started in all 11 matches against a Big Ten-only schedule. She earned All-Big Ten Third Team honors after collecting five points on two goals and an assist. Both of her goals, against Michigan and Michigan State, were game winners.
As a freshman in 2019, Lockwood led the Hoosiers on offense, starting in all 19 matches, collecting a team-high 13 points on five goals and three assists and earned Big Ten All-Freshman honors. Among her five goals were three game-winners, including one of two goals she tallied in a 5-0 win against Morehead State, as well as the game-winner at Illinois and Michigan State as well. She also scored in the Hoosiers' 2-1 win at UT Martin.
Prior to Indiana, Lockwood played for Rockford High School and Midwest United FC. During her prep career, she was ranked as a four-star prospect by TopDrawer, came in at No. 34 in the IMG Academy Top 150, and was rated as the No. 2 player in the Great Lakes Region.
Lockwood's parents are Debbie and Matt. Her father played baseball at Michigan State. She has two brothers, Alec and Jack. Alec played baseball at Aquinas College.
