Chase Campbell joined Xavier in the summer of 2021 as Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for Basketball. Campbell came to Xavier from the Orlando Magic, where he served as Strength and Conditioning Coach for the past year, designing and implementing individualized training programs in conjunction with medical and sports science staff.
“This is a position that I value very highly,” said Sedler Family Men’s Head Basketball Coach Travis Steele. “We want to be the best in the country at the development of our players, and this position is a critical component of that. Chase comes to Xavier with an outstanding resume. He has worked both in the NBA and at the collegiate level. He will bring extensive knowledge and passion to our program.”
“I am incredibly excited to join the Xavier basketball family,” said Campbell. “Coach Steele’s energy and passion for the future of this program is infectious, and I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of his vision and this team. I look forward to getting to work and building upon the foundation that was laid before me.”
Prior to landing in Orlando, Campbell spent two years from 2018-20 as the Director of Men’s Basketball Performance at the University of Rhode Island, directing all aspects of the year-round athletic performance training and testing for the men’s basketball team. He also coordinated the implementation of a performance nutrition and education program for the Rams.
Campbell spent two years from 2016-18 as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Indiana Fever of the WNBA. He spent the 2016-17 season as Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at Butler University, working primarily with softball, tennis and swimming but also assisting with the implementation of training and testing programs for men’s basketball. Prior to Butler, Campbell was at nearby Miami University as Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach, working with a number of sports including men’s and women’s basketball.
Campbell, who is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA), is a 2013 graduate of Ball State University with a degree in exercise science. He earned his master’s degree in sports performance from Ball State in 2015.
In addition to his academic credentials, Campbell secured intern positions with Ball State, the Indiana Pacers and Vanderbilt University prior to accepting his first full-time position at Miami in 2015.
