Eric Futscher became assistant coach Brent MacDonald's Xavier swimming program in Fall 2017 after joining the staff as a volunteer assistant in Summer 2017. Prior to joining the staff, Futscher was a four-year member of the Xavier men's swimming team, taking part in the Musketeer's three BIG EAST Championships in 2014, 2015 and 2016.
During his senior season, Futscher competed in the 200 breast and 200 and 400 IM at the BIG EAST Championships. During the 2016 championship, Futscher took part in the championship final in the 200 back, scoring in eighth place with a Xavier career-best time of 2:06.06. He also competed in the 200 IM and the 400 IM at 2016 Championship, setting Xavier-career best times of 1:53.23 and 4:01.35, respectively.
Futscher was a three-time member of the BIG EAST All-Academic team. He joined the Musketeers from Jesuit College Prepataory in Irving, Texas. He graduated from Xavier in 2017 with a degree in Health Services Administration and is currently studying for his Masters in the same field.
