Xavier head cross country and track and field coach Ryan Orner announced the hiring of Maria Stickley as an assistant coach in August of 2017. She will serve as an assistant coach for cross country and track and field (middle/long distance).

Stickley spent the 2016-17 season as a volunteer assistant coach at Temple, working with both the cross country and track and field programs. She helped coach Millie Howard to all-conference honors and a spot in the 800-meter run at the NCAA East Regional. During the cross country season, she helped three runners earn top-20 finishes at the conference championship meet.

Stickley was a member of the cross country and track and field teams at Appalachian State from 2011-16. She helped her teams capture three conference championships during her time with the program.

Stickley earned a bachelor’s degree in health education and secondary education from Appalachian State in 2016.
