Vince Gentile joined head coach Nate Lie's staff in July 2017. Gentile brought over 15 years of college, high school and club coaching experience to the Xavier coaching staff.

"We are excited and blessed to add Vince to our staff," said Lie. "I believe that his experience, knowledge and personality will add great balance to our office, and will be very impactful on the players."

Gentile, a native of St. Louis, Mo., joined the staff from Kings Hammer Soccer Club in Cincinnati, where he has served as technical director since July 2017. Gentile was responsible for coaching and curriculum development, as well as player development for the U7-10 players.

Prior to Kings Hammer, Gentile spent four seasons as assistant coach at Saint Louis University. At SLU, Gentile led the efforts for scouting reports and team video break down, and assisted in national and regional recruiting as well as the planning and execution of training sessions and game management strategies. Gentile's tenure with the Billikens was capped by a 14-win season to take second in the Atlantic 10 in 2016.Â

Gentile also spent over 10 years working with club and high school squads, working with Saint Louis Scott Gallagher from 2001 to 2013, as well as serving as a trainer and program director at the Total Soccer Training Acadmey in St. Louis. Gentile was also assistant coach of the men's varsity team at Mary Institute Country Day in St. Louis.

Gentile is a graduate of Notre Dame, earning a bachelor’s degree in Finance in 1994. He holds a US Soccer Federation A License and NSCAA Premier Diploma.Â
