Angie Hinrichs, a former standout athlete at Cincinnati's McAuley High School, was the first Xavier women's swimmer to win an Atlantic 10 Championship. She earned plenty of accolades during her four-year career, including First Team All-Conference in the 100 free and Second Team All-Conference in the 200 free in 2001-02. Her efforts played a significant role in the women's team climb within the Atlantic 10 Conference.
Hinrichs broke the Xavier record in the 100 free with a time of 51.47 in 2002, now tied for 4th. She ranks 10th all-time for XU in the 50 free (23.93 in 2004), eighth in the 200 free (1:53.28, 2002) and 14th in the 200 IM (2:09.29, 2002). She was very successful during her career at the Atlantic 10 Championships, including a gold medal in 2002 for the 100 free and a silver medal in 2002 for the 200 free. In 2004 she returned to the medal stand with a bronze medal in the 100 free.
Hinrichs, a two-time selection as Xavier Swim Team MVP, was a nominee for the NCAA Woman of the Year Award and earned Xavier's highest honor for a senior student-athlete, the Paul L. O'Connor Award.Â
