Boothe was also named to the All-Rookie Team and the All-Conference Third Team. Senior guards Reetta Piipari and Amy Waugh were both named to the All-Conference First Team. Waugh was also named to the All-Academic Team. Freshman Kristy Wallner was named to the All-Rookie Team.
Boothe is sixth in the A-10 in both scoring (16.0 ppg) and rebounding (8.1 rpg). She won the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week award a record 11 times this season, including the last nine weeks in a row. This is Piipari’s third All-Conference selection. In addition to her First Team honors this year, she was a Third Team honoree as a junior and was named to the Second Team as a sophomore. This season Piipari is averaging 14.1 points and 5.2 assists per game, and she leads the A-10 with a 2.10 assist/turnover ratio.
Waugh’s First Team selection comes after she was named to the A-10 Second Team as a junior. She leads the Atlantic 10 with 18.7 points per game and leads the nation in three point shooting with 3.5 per contest. She also checks in at fourth in the nation with a .906 free throw percentage. She also holds a 3.13 GPA as an Education major, and is spending this semester student teaching first graders.
Wallner has started every game for Xavier this season and is averaging 4.9 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. Her rebounding average ranks 17th in the A-10. In the month of February, Wallner averaged 8.0 rebounds per game.
Xavier finished the regular season with a 19-8 record overall and an 11-5 mark in the Atlantic 10, which was good for second in the A-10 West. The Musketeers have a first round bye in the A-10 Tournament, and will open the postseason at 6 p.m. Friday in the quarterfinals against either La Salle or Massachusetts at Rhode Island’s Ryan Center.
