Xavier Men's Basketball Signs Two Prep All-Americans
11.16.04 | Men's Basketball
Both Brown and Raymond were named as 2004 Street & Smith?s high honorable mention High School All-Americans. Both also earned Associated Press Second Team Team All-Ohio honors.
?We are excited to add both B.J. and Derrick to our Xavier family,? said Miller. ?In each of their cases, they play for excellent coaches in winning high school programs. They are both attempting to win state championships in their respective divisions in their senior seasons. Coming from strong families and winning environments will prepare both of these guys to contribute early in their careers. I look forward to coaching both of them.?
Brown averaged 17 points and eight rebounds and shot 70 percent from the floor as he led Chaminade-Julienne under head coach Joe Staley to a 20-8 record his junior year.
Raymond, a two-time First Team All-City selection and the 2004 Toledo Blade Player of the Year, averaged 19.3 points and 7.5 rebounds as a junior while leading his team to a 23-5 record. Raymond led St. John?s Jesuit under head coach Ed Heintschel to a state runner-up finish in 2002 and the state?s semifinals in 2003.
