Xavier Baseball Falls to Kansas State, 6-4

MANHATTAN, Kan. - Xavier University took a 4-3 advantage into the home half of the seventh against Kansas State before surrendering three in the bottom of the seventh and falling 6-4. The Musketeers outhit the Wildcats by a 12-11 count and scored three runs in the top of the fifth to take the 4-3 advantage before surrendering to the KSU rally. XU is now 5-8 on the season, while Kansas State improves to 10-1 overall.
Junior Matt Waskerwitz led the XU offense with a perfect 3-for-3 day at the plate. Waskerwitz ended with a double and two singles on the afternoon. Senior Sean Brewer also collected three hits on the contest and finished 3-for-5 at the plate with a double, run scored and an RBI. Adam Lipski and Jordan Wolf each notched two hits on the game with Lipski recording his first triple of the season. Wolf finished with two singles and a run scored. Freshman Adam Pasono launched his second home run of the season for his only hit in the game.
Mike Creevy suffered the loss for the Musketeers and is now 1-3 on the young season. Creevy went 6.2 innings and gave up all six of the Wildcat runs, while striking out two.
The two teams will square off again tomorrow afternoon at Tointon Stadium. The first pitch is slated for 2:00 pm. Sophomore Michael Lucas will make the start on the mound for the blue and white.
