Musketeers Fall to Indiana State, 15-5

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Xavier ended its season-long 16-game road trip with a loss to Indiana State on Thursday afternoon at Sycamore Field. The Musketeers, who have played every game on the road to open the season, only trailed the Sycamores in hits 14-13 but could not muster enough runs and fell, 15-5. XU is now 5-11 on the season, while Indiana State improves to 7-5 overall.
Adam Pasono led the Musketeers at the plate on the afternoon as the freshman finished the day 3-for-5 at the plate. Pasono notched three singles and scored one of the Musketeers' runs. Adam Lipski and Matt Waskerwitz each finished 2-for-5 at the dish with Lipski recording a double, only one of the two extra base hits for the Musketeers on the afternoon. Senior Sean Brewer recorded the other double and finished 1-for-4 with an RBI. Junior Chris Lozan ended the day 1-for-2 with a single and one RBI.
Junior Mark Janszen suffered the loss for the Musketeers and is now 0-2 on the year.
Waskerwitz extended his current hitting streak to seven games, while Xavier now has recorded 10 or more hits in seven of its 16 games this season.
Xavier will return to action tomorrow afternoon as XU opens its home slate with Youngstown State. The first pitch is scheduled for 3:00 pm at Hayden Field. Junior Mike Creevy will get the nod on the hill for the Musketeers.
