Women's Tennis Rolls Over Southern Illinois 4-1

CINCINNATI - Behind a strong singles performance from the Musketeers' top three positions, the Xavier University women's tennis team defeated Southern Illinois, 6-1, on Saturday afternoon in Cincinnati. Jackie Vilines and Kara Courtney each won their singles matches and paired up for a doubles win.
Vilines used staright sets to beat Sabine Tsala Mvilongo 6-2, 6-2, while Courtney rolled over Agata Skorupska by counts of 6-2 and 6-3. Jill Ducro also recorded a win in No. 3 singles over Ame Blacketer, 6-3, 6-3.
In doubles, Vilines and Courtney beat the pairing of Blacketer and Vianna Ce 8-5. Kate Lohner and Jeanette Feider defeated Tsala and Courtney 8-6.
The women return to action Sunday versus Rutgers at the Five Seasons Tennis Club.
