Women's Tennis Set to Take Part in ITA Ohio Valley Regional at Lindner Family Tennis Center

CINCINNATI - Xavier women's tennis travels up the road to Mason, Ohio, to take part in the ITA Ohio Valley Regional, co-hosted by University of Cincinnati and Miami University at the Lindner Family Tennis Center. The event gets underway on Thursday Oct. 8 and runs through Tuesday, Oct. 13.

- The six-day regional will feature representatives from 24 programs: co hosts Cincinnati and Miami (OH) as well as Austin Peay, Belmont, Butler, Chattanooga, Dayton, East Tennessee State, Eastern Kentucky, Indiana, IU Indianapolis, Kentucky, Lipscomb, Louisville, Middle Tennessee State, Murray State, Northern Kentucky, Purdue, Southern Indiana, Tennessee, Tennessee State, Vanderbilt and Western Kentucky in addition to Xavier.
- The tournament will begin Thursday with singles qualifying at 9 a.m. The 64-player qualifying draw will compete for 16 spots in the main draw, with players needing two wins to advance.Â
- Main draw singles and doubles will begin Friday at 9 a.m., with competition continuing through Tuesday.
THE MUSKETEERS
- Xavier returns three players from last season's 2026 BIG EAST Championship squad, Ellie Brotherton, Sofia Mazzucato and Natalie Smitek.
- Transfer Lilly Black also joined the Musketeers' roster for the 2026-27 season. Black is a senior who most recently played for Quinnipiac.
LAST TIME OUT
- Xavier opened up the Fall 2026 tournament schedule at the NKU Fall Invitational, an event including the host Norse, Dayton, Eastern Kentucky and Thomas More.
- Xavier collected six singles win on the opening day, going 3-1 against NKU. Ellie Brotherton picked up a two-set win, 6-0, 6-2, Lilly Black won in two sets, 6-3, 7-5, and Sofia Mazzucato picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win against the Norse.
- The Musketeers picked up three more wins against Dayton, with Brotherton moving to 2-0 with a 6-2, 6-4 win, Mazzucato picking up a second win, 6-1, 6-2, and Natalie Smitek taking a 6-3, 6-3 win against the Flyers.
- Xavier opened up doubles play on Friday against NKU, with Brotherton and Smitek pairing up to take a 6-3 win, and Black and Mazzucato combining for a 6-1 win.
- Xavier wrapped up day one doubles undefeated, after Brotherton and Smitek combined for a 6-4 win over EKU, and Black and Mazzucato taking a a 6-4 win over the Colonels.
- On Saturday, Smitek and Black each picked up a second singles win facing players from EKU, with Smitek taking a 6-4, 6-2, victory, and Black topping her Colonel opponent, 6-2, 6-2.
- Smitek and Brotherton wrapped up the weekend at 3-0 in doubles, taking a 6-2 win over a duo from Dayton. Black and Mazzucato also picked up a doubles win over the Flyers, 6-1.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
- Xavier is back in action next weekend, traveling to Nashville to take part in the Lipscomb Hidden Dual running, Oct. 16-18.
