Women's Tennis Falls to Temple, 5-2

PHILADELPHIA - The Xavier women's tennis team was downed by Temple, 5-2, Saturday afternoon in Philadelphia. Although Kara Courtney won her 11th straight singles match and 14th straight in doubles with Jackie Vilines, the Musketeers fell to 12-5 overall, 4-1 against the Atlantic 10.
Courtney and Kaitlyn Zinn were XU's lone winners in the singles portion. Courtney defeated Dina Senkina by scores of 6-3 and 6-2. Zinn needed three sets to get past Anastasiia Rukavyshnykova, 3-6, 6-3, 6-1.
Vilines and Courtney combined for the Musketeers lone doubles victory as the tandem defeated Yuri Kurashima and Christine Clermont 8-7 (5).
The Musketeers are back in action Tuesday in Oxford versus Miami (Ohio).
