Women's Soccer Team Shut Out At Home

CINCINNATI --- The visiting La Salle Explorers shut out the Xavier Musketeers 3-0 in women’s soccer on Friday night at the Xavier University Soccer Complex. Xavier closes out the 2008 season with a home game against Fordham at 1 p.m. on Sunday. “Senior Day” activities for the six XU seniors start at 12:40 p.m.
The shots showed that the game was much closer than the final score but the Explorers were able to finish their chances. La Salle only outshot XU 12-11, including 8-6 in shots on goal.
La Salle’s Dana O’Brien scored two goals, first at 20:11 into the match on a shot from 22 yards out and again before halftime at 40:40. La Salle led 2-0 at halftime and extended the lead to 3-0 just 3:26 into the second half when Melanie Gamble converted on a penalty kick.
Xavier falls to 1-15-2 overall and 0-8-2 in the Atlantic 10 Conference, while La Salle raises its records to 9-7-3 overall and 5-3-2 in the A-10.
