CINCINNATI - Freshman standout Ta'Shia Phillips added another accolade to her resume as the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year was voted onto the fifth-annual GBallmag.com Young All-America team as announced on Thursday, May 1. The Young All-America team is made up of student-athletes who played significant roles on their teams during their first year in college.
The Indianapolis native led the Atlantic 10 and established a new school record with 371 rebounds during her rookie season. She was also 10th in the league in scoring (14.0 ppg) and led the league with in field goal percentage, scorching the nets at a 59.4 percent clip. She finished the year ranked sixth nationally in both rebounds per game and field goal percentage. Phillips led the league with 18 double-doubles, marking the most double-doubles by any freshman in the country.
Phillips, who was honored as a Second Team All-Atlantic 10 pick, also garnered the Atlantic 10 Championship Most Outstanding Performer award after leading the Musketeers to their second-consecutive league crown.
