CINCINNATI - Senior Brittany Green posted two goals including the pivotal game-winning "golden goal" in overtime to give the Musketeers a 2-1 win over Atlantic 10 rival Massachusetts Friday night at the XU Soccer Complex. Green drilled a 30 yard strike 30 seconds into the first overtime period that found its way past UMass goalkeeper Emily Cota's outstretched fingers.
Green posted her first goal of the match in the 55th minute on a breakaway shot to give the Musketeers a 1-0 lead.
UMass forward Therese Smith scored the equalizer in the 78th minute when she got past a diving XU goalkeeper Kelly Farrell for the five yard goal.
Farrell pulled down four saves in 90 minutes of play while XU keeper Jenny Rosen earned the win when she came in to start the overtime period. Cota posted five saves for the Minutewomen and allowed both goals.
With the win the Musketeers improve to 3-13-1 overall and 2-6-1 in the A-10. UMass falls to 4-9-2 overall and 3-5-0 in the conference.
