Dante Jackson scored a game-high 19 points and collected his second straight Blackburn/McCafferty MVP Award while leading Xavier (12-5, 4-0 Atlantic 10) to 78-74 victory over Dayton (13-4, 2-1 A-10). Jordan Crawford scored 16 points, Terrell Holloway added 15, and Jason Love chipped in 10 points. Love grabbed 8 rebounds and Crawford dished out 4 assists. Dayton was led by Marcus Johnson who scored 17 points, followed by Rob Lowery with 13 points, and Chris Johnson and Chris Wright added 10 points apiece. Chris Johnson grabbed 16 rebounds and Lowery had 6 assists.
This was the 150th time Xavier and Dayton have met on the basketball court. XU has faced Dayton 53 times more than any other opponent. UD leads the series 81-69, but Xavier has won eight of the last nine meetings, and 17 of the last 21. The Musketeers have won 25 straight games against the Flyers in the City of Cincinnati. The last Dayton win over Xavier in the Queen City occurred on January 10, 1981, when the Flyers posted a 74-72 victory at Riverfront Coliseum (now U.S. Bank Arena).
With today’s win, Xavier extended its home winning streak to 18 games, the eighth-longest home court winning streak in the country. The 18-game streak is the longest by any XU squad since Cintas Center opened for the 2000-01 season. Now in its 10th season playing its home games at Cintas Center, XU is 129-17 (.884) overall at its on-campus arena.
XU improved to 64-10 (.865) against Atlantic 10 competition at Cintas Center. The Musketeers have won 26 consecutive Atlantic 10 games at Cintas Center, which is the second-longest streak in A-10 history.
Xavier is 11-1 this season when it scores at least 70 points, with its only loss being the 96-92 double-overtime setback at Wake Forest.
Through four Atlantic 10 Conference games, Xavier has held opponents to just 18.5 percent shooting (15-for-81) from behind the three-point arc. Conversely, the Musketeers are shooting 42.7 percent (32-for-75) from behind the arc in conference play.
After missing its first free throw of the game, XU connected on its next 18 in the first half.
Xavier committed just 8 turnovers, matching its season low. The Musketeers also turned the ball over just 8 times against LSU (12-29-09).

Trailing 22-17 at 10:51, XU went on a 9-0 run to take a 26-22 lead at 7:05. Terrell Holloway was 4-for-4 from the free throw line to lead the Musketeers.
Trailing 26-22 at 7:05, Dayton went on a 13-2 run to take a 35-28 lead at 3:05. Marcus Johnson scored 6 points to lead the Flyers.
Trailing 39-32 at 1:37 of the first half, XU went on a 9-0 run to take a 41-39 lead at 18:15 of the second half. Terrell Holloway scored 6 points during the spurt.
Up Next:Xavier travels to Philadelphia to face the Temple Owls at Liacouras Center on Wednesday, January 20, at 7:00 p.m. Temple leads the all-times series with Xavier, 11-9. Last year the teams split their two games. XU defeated the Owls, 83-74, on February 5, 2009, at Cintas Center. In that game, B.J. Raymond scored 23 points, Derrick Brown and Jason Love each scored 13 points, and Brad Redford added 12 points for the Musketeers. In the second meeting, Temple edged Xavier, 55-53, in the semifinals of the Atlantic 10 Conference Championship at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Derrick Brown paced the Musketeers with 19 points and B.J. Raymond scored 18. Temple was led by Dionte Christmas who scored a game-high 20 points.
