Xavier Starts Season 2-0 After Win Against Central Arkansas

HOUSTON - The Xavier Musketeers swept the Central Arkansas Sugar Bears to go 2-0 on the first day of the season. XU took the match 25-19, 29-27, 25-13 in the nightcap of the Flo Hyman Collegiate Cup hosted by the University of Texas.
Similar to the first match of the day, the Musketeers executed a balanced approach. Sophomore Sarah Brown recorded a match-high 11 kills for a .304 hitting percentage. Red-shirt sophomore Alex Smith was accurate with her hitting, notching a .636 percentage with seven kills. Senior Michelle Matia added nine kills for a .571 average.
Freshman Aubree Smith shined again, adding a match-high and career-high 30 assists. Junior Stephanie Vorherr got under a match-high 11 digs. The Musketeers recorded a total of 11 team blocks to the Sugar Bears three. Alex Smith had a busy day at the net, assisting on eight blocks.
Central Arkansas (0-1) was led by Jessica Hays who had nine kills and Marissa Collins who assisted on 25 kiils..
