Musketeers Finish Ninth in Circling Raven

WORLEY, Idaho- The Xavier women's golf team wrapped up the Circling Raven Collegiate Invitational today finishing in ninth at the par 72 6,111-yard Circling Raven Golf Course. Sophomore Christine Cash led the charge for the Musketeers shooting a 16-over-par (81-79-72=232) and finished tied for 19th out of the 116 competitors.
Each Xavier competitor played consistently well throughout the tournament and as a team were only six strokes behind three other schools. Xavier finished ninth in a field of 22 schools with a 21-over-par 936 (315-310-311). The Musketeers performed very well on the par threes and par fives throughout the tournament finishing in second on par threes with a scoring average of 3.35, and fifth in par fives with a 5.22 average.
Cash's third round 72(E) was her career best. Teammate Ariel McNair finished the tournament tied for 33rd after shooting a 234 (80-74-80). McNair dropped eight birdies throughout the tournament which was tied for the third most and had the second lowest scoring average on the par fives with a 4.83 average.
Sophomore Breanna Patz finished one stroke behind McNair with a 235 (76-80-79) and was tied for 36th in the field. Senior Michelle Winkler and sophomore Kristin Tan were close behind shooting a 237 (+21) and 239 (+23) respectively.
Washington State took the title at the Circling Raven shooting a 913 (307-298-308), and Caitlin McCleary of Seattle University was the medalist with an even par 216.
The Musketeers head to Louisville, Ky. next for the Wild Eggs Cardinal Cup on September 19-20, 2011.
