Musketeers Fight the Weather at Cardinal Cup

SIMPSONVILLE, Ky. – The Musketeers had to fight the elements of weather all day at the Wild Eggs Cardinal Cup concluding day one 32-over-par 320 and tied for 12th with two other schools. Junior Breanna Patz leads the Musketeers with a 7-over-par 79 performance and is tied for 39th after a wet day of competiton at the Cardinal Golf Club.
After the first round senior Michelle Winkler and sophomore Christine Cash both shot an 80 (+8). Sophomore Kristin Tan fired a 9-over par 81 but led the team with two birdies on the day, both coming on the front nine. Sophomore Ariel McNair carded an 82 (+10) and junior Alexandra Lake who played as an individual shot an 84 (+12).
North Carolina State leads the field by four strokes with a team performance of 8-over par 296. Amanda Baker of N.C. State, AnnaKarin Ljungstrom of Louisville, and Fanny Wolte of East Carolina are tied for first with an even score of 72.
Due to inclement weather only one round was able to be completed today, and there will only be one round played tomorrow. The tournament will resume tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. in a shotgun format.
