St. Bonaventure Coach Mark Schmidt
"I thought Xavier played well. I thought Mark [Lyons] played exceptionally well. We didn't do a great job defending them [Lyons and Tu Holloway]. To play a team like Xavier at Xavier, we couldn't have just one guy playing his `A' game."
"[Xavier] did a good job double-teaming Andrew [Nicholson]. Give Xavier credit in that 3-minute run [near the end of the first half]. They picked up their intensity."
"[Tu] Holloway and [Mark] Lyons are the focus of any team's defensive game plan. They're both so good off the dribble. I thought we did a decent job against Holloway, but Lyons got us pretty good. They're good off the bounce. When Lyons is hitting shots like he did, they're hard to play."
"To me, watching them play against Duquesne and Fordham, it looked like they were back."
Xavier Players
On playing against Andrew Nicholson "In practice we talked about crowding [Andrew] Nicholson so he would pass the ball out. He poses a lot of mismatches on defense. He's a wiry guy, but he's stronger than he looks."
On his shooting
"It's more about getting in the gym and trusting myself. I feel like every week I'm getting stronger. Part of the difficulty of coming back [from an injury] is in the head."
"We're playing with more of a sense of urgency. We need to play a full 40 minutes on the defensive and offensive ends."
"We're getting back to how we used to play and setting the tone from the beginning."
On St. Bonaventure's run in the second half "We just took our foot off the gas pedal. We just have to play a complete and solid 40 minutes, not just 30 minutes."
Xavier Head Coach Chris Mack
"Another day in the A-10! Coming into today's game we were fully aware of who Andrew Nicholson is, was, and has been. He's a poor man's Tim Duncan. I was pleased with our defensive intensity, especially in the first half."
"We lost Kenny [Frease] for the second half, so we were playing without our starting center. [His ankle] is fine. He'll get treatment tonight. He'll get treatment tomorrow."
On Jeff Robinson "He did a really good job. I'd like to keep him out of foul trouble. He's really hard to block out. He's Inspector Gadget-like with his length. He's coming on late and it's a result of his practice habits."
"Pace is defined by the wings running up the floor. Our wings are doing a better job coming up the floor. Our transition from pace to half-court offense is getting better."
"Our kids are confident all the time. The guys are just playing. That's all I'm asking them to do. We are going to be fine as long as we believe in our system and guys stick together."
"That's the Brad [Redford] I know. He's the best shooter I've ever been around. His defense and all of the other things that really plagued him his first two years are better."
