WIU Hands Baseball Musketeers An 8-2 Loss

MACOMB, Ill. -- The Xavier baseball team fell to 8-14 on the season after suffering an 8-2 loss at Western Illinois Saturday afternoon. The two teams will play the rubber game of the three-game series Sunday at 12 p.m.
Junior Jon Richard fell to 2-3 on the season as he was tagged with the loss in 3.1 innings of action.
XU got on the board first in the top of the second when Brian Bruening brought home Selby Chidemo with an RBI base hit. The Musketeers added a run in the top of the fourth to make it a 5-2 ballgame but the WIU rallied to hold on for the win.
Bruening led the Musketeers offensively as he went 2-for-4 at the plate and drove in both of the Musketeers' runs.
