Xavier Finishes Day One at Rio Verde Invite

RIO VERDE, Ariz- The Xavier women’s golf team concluded the first round of the 2012 Rio Verde Invitational tied for 12th place out of 16 teams. The Musketeers shot a 321 (+37), senior Michelle Winkler is currently tied in eighth with a score of 76 (+5).
Xavier is tied with Northern Arizona and only five strokes separate the Musketeers from four schools, Arkansas-Little Rock, Wichita State, Ball State, and Toledo. Sophomore Christine Cash shot an eight-over par, 79 in the opening round and is currently sitting tied for 38th. Junior Breanna Patz opened the tournament with an 80 (+9) and is tied for 38th in the field of 85 competitors.
Akron sits on top of the leader board after day one with a score of 305 (+21) and Ryann White of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi had a tournament-low 71 even par.
