No. 52 Indiana Downs Women's Tennis

CINCINNATI - Women's tennis was downed by No. 52 Indiana, 6-1, Saturday afternoon at Western Tennis and Fitness. This was the first loss for the Musketeers this season. The team currently posts a record of 2-1.
Doubles competition was highly competitive. Despite Daniella Patton and Lauren Ghidotti dropping their doubles match, 6-3, Sydney Liggins and Amina Ismail won their match, 6-3. At No. 2 doubles, Cristina Di Lorenzo and Alex Brinker kept a close match against Indiana's Stephanie Smith and Shannon Murdy. Eventually, Smith and Murdy pulled away to secure the doubles point for Indiana.
In singles, Liggins defeated Katie Klyczek in three sets, 4-6, 6-3, 10-5, at No.1 to give Xavier its first and only point of the match.
Ismail was able to win her first set at No. 3 singles against Paula Gutierrez, but Gutierrez bounced back to win the match in three sets.
The women are back in action on the road Sunday morning at 10 a.m. as they take on the No. 64 Cardinals of Louisville.
