Men's Golf Finishes Fourth, Wetterich and Montaño Finish Tied for 12th at Firestone

Freshman Wetterich Fire Final Round 67
AKRON, Ohio – Freshman Daniel Wetterich and sophomore Jose Montaño finished tied for 12th at the Firestone Invitational.
Xavier, as a team, finished fourth out of a tough 16-team field. The Musketeers posted a three round score of 867 (+3).
Daniel Wetterich continued his phenomenal freshman season after firing a final round 67 (-5), which was a career best. The Cincinnati native was tied for 43rd heading into the final round after shooting first round scores of 76 (+4) in the morning and a 71 (-1) in the afternoon.
Sophomore Jose Montaño shot a final round 75 (+3). The Bolivia native was tied for seventh heading into the final round after firing a first round 69 (-3) in the morning and a 70(-2) in the afternoon. Montaño was the defending champion at the event.
Junior Fox Morrissey finished tied for 31st after shooting a final round 71 (-1). The Murray State transfer was tied for 43rd going into the final round after shooting first round scores of 74 (+2) in the morning and a 73 (+1) in the afternoon.
Junior David Long finished tied for 47th after shooting a final round 78 (+6). The Memphis transfer fired first round scores of 70 (-2) in the morning and 73 (+1) in the afternoon.
Sophomore Daniel Jaramillo finished tied for 76th after shooting a final round 79 (+7). The Columbia native had first round scores of 76 (+4) in the morning and 75 (+3) in the afternoon.
Senior Matt Gerard competed as an individual. The Cleveland native went 81-71-76 for a total of 228 (+12) for the tournament.
The Musketeers return to the course on Monday, October 12th for the Crooked stick Intercollegiate in Bloomington, Indiana.
