Jeff Massey Named to Indiana Basketball Silver Anniversary Team

Former Musketeer standout honored by Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame
CINCINNATI — Jeff Massey, a 1995 Xavier University graduate and a standout two-year letterwinner for the Musketeers, is among 18 that have been named to the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame's 2016 Silver Anniversary Team.Â
The team includes 13 members of the 1991 Indiana All-Star squad. Five other all-state players are included to recognize the top of Indiana's high school class of 1991. 1991 Indiana All-Stars include Mr. Basketball Glenn Robinson, Alan Henderson, Daimon Beathea, Brandon Brantley, Brian Evans, Andy Elkins, Marlon Fleming, Jeff Massey, LaMar Morton, Steve Nicodemus, Andre Owens, LaSalle Thompson and Chris Wilburn.
The remaining five, named to various all-state teams are: Lance Barker, Tony Etchison, Jerry Freshwater, Chad Gilbert and Jason Williams.
All Men's Silver Anniversary Team members will be honored at the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame's Annual Men's Banquet on Wednesday, March 23, 2016. Massey was named the Midwestern Collegiate Conference Newcomer of the Year in 1993-94, when he averaged 12.7 points and 2.1 rebounds per game and helped guide Xavier to the 1994 NIT Quarterfinals. In his senior season, Massey was a team captain while leading the Musketeers in scoring (18.9 ppg), steals, free throw percentage and blocked shots as Xavier advanced to the 1995 NCAA Tournament. Massey earned 1994-95 First Team All-MCC honors.
Prior to Xavier, Massey played two seasons at Owens Community College, where he finished as the program's all-time leading scorer. Massey is one of two NJCAA players in history to be named the national player of the year twice (1992, 1993) and was also a two-time most valuable player of the NJCAA national tournament.
Massey, 1991 Indiana All-Star at Concord High School, averaged 16.6 ppg. as senior, while leading Concord to a 1990 state runner-up finish and back-to-back sectional and regional championships. Named All-Area Player of the Year and Second Team All-State, Massey has already been inducted into the Concord High School, Elkhart County and NJCAA Hall of Fames.
After his collegiate career, Massey spent four seasons playing professionally for teams in France and Poland. Massey has coached college basketball at Owens, Robert Morris, St. Bonaventure and is currently assistant men's basketball coach at the University of Toledo.
