Abbey Bessler Named to AVCA All-Region Team

Junior outside hitter earns the honors for the third straight year
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Junior Abbey Bessler was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Region Team on Tuesday. The Hebron, Ky., native earns the honors for the third straight season.
Bessler was named to the 2014 AVCA All-Region Honorable Mention Team and the 2013 AVCA All-Region First Team. She was also named the 2013 AVCA East Region 'Rookie of the Year'.
Bessler was one of two BIG EAST players named to the East Region Team as the outside hitter was joined by Jaali Winters of Creighton. All told, the BIG EAST had five players earn the honors.
Bessler, the 2015 BIG EAST Player of the Year, ranks fifth in the conference in points (4.19 p/s), fourth in kills (3.72 k/s) and ninth in digs (3.41 d/s). She ranks 49th nationally in total attacks and 64th in attacks per set.
The three-time All-BIG EAST First Team selection helped the Musketeers finish the season with an 18-12 record and 14-4 mark in BIG EAST play, advancing to the conference tournament for the third straight season. Xavier has now posted a .500 or better record in 18 consecutive seasons.
