Musketeers Surge Past IUPUI

INDIANAPOLIS - Men's tennis heads home with a 5-2 victory over host IUPUI.
In doubles, Zach Mueck and Matt Bishop earned a 4-2 record after defeating Alex Toliver and Patrick O'Neill, 7-5. Remaining Musketeer matches came down to tiebreakers with Xavier retrieving the doubles point. Connor LaFavre and Michael Moe defeated Thomas Gans and Adam Reinhart, 7-6(6). Jeremy Schneider and Gabriel Chaves Araujo edged off David Beasly and Jose Calero, 7-6(5).
With the lead, the Musketeers headed into singles.
At the one spot, Zach Mueck powered pasted Jac Newis, 6-0, 6-3. Matt Bishop followed up in a tight match to obtain a reassuring lead for Xavier. Gabriel Chaves Araujo and Connor LaFavre each took their matches into three sets but came away with points, surging Xavier to a 5-2 win over the Jaguars.
"It's was a hard fought win as a team." Matt Bishop stated. "it started with a close doubles point win, and through that we were able to keep our energy up and stay aggressive throughout singles."
Xavier improves to 5-2 on the season.
Men's tennis will be back in action February 13th, to face Ball State and potentially earn its third consecutive win. #LetsGox
