DALLAS - The men's tennis team opened up its spring break play in Dallas, TX., by earning its first win of the trip, defeating Abilene Christian 5-2.
To start afternoon play, Xavier captured the doubles point, winning two of its three sets. At the No. 1 spot Matt Bishop and Zach Mueck knocked off Nico Agritelley and Guilherme Gesser, 6-2. Jeremy Schneider and Gabriel Chaves Araujo also edged off Marco Bensley and Paul Domanski, 6-4.
In singles, the Musketeers continued on with impressive play, adding four more wins to seal the deal against a talented Abilene Christian. At the No. 1 spot, Zach Mueck captured his eighth win on the year and seventh straight in singles competition by defeting Guilherme Gesser in two sets 6-4, 7-5. Connor LaFavre improved to 4-1 on the spring season serving past Paul Domanski 6-4, 6-4. Matt Bishop followed up his teammates by earning a win of his own, placing sweet shots to surge past Jason Proctor. Freshman Arthur Stefani also earned his eighth win of the spring season by blowing past opponent Marco Bensley.
The Musketeers will be back in action Thursday afternoon to take on Texas Arlington. Xavier will be seeking its eighth win of the season.
