Musketeers Fall in BIG EAST Tournament Quarterfinals to DePaul

ROSEMONT, Ill. - Xavier women's basketball bowed out of the BIG EAST Tournament with a quarterfinal round loss to DePaul, 87-53, at Allstate Arena on Sunday night.
The No. 7 seeded Musketeers fell to 17-14 on the year, while the No. 2 seeded Blue Demons improved to 24-7.
Kindell Fincher and Aliyah Zantt led three Xavier players in double figures with 12 points each. Fincher scored all of her points in the second half, going 3-of-5 from the floor in the period.
Briana Glover rounded out the double-figure scorers with 10 points on 4-of-7 shooting. The junior forward was one of three XU players with four rebounds as the Musketeers were outrebounded, 39-30.
Turnovers proved costly for the Musketeers as the Blue Demons scored 30 points off of 21 Xavier miscues. DePaul also finished the game with six more steals, 14-8, than Xavier. Zantt paced XU with four steals, while DePaul's Jessica January had a game-high five.
Jenna Crittendon hit a three pointer on the Musketeers opening possession of the game to put Xavier up 3-0. The two schools were tied 5-5 at the 16:06 mark before the Blue Demons went on a 15-5 run to take its first double-figure lead of the game, 20-10, with 11:25 on the clock.
DePaul built a 20-point advantage in the closing minutes of the period behind solid three-point shooting before taking a 48-23 advantage into the locker room. The Blue Demons hit 10 of their 14 three pointers in the game during the first period.
Briana Glover led the Xavier offense at halftime with seven points on 3-of-3 shooting, while Chanise Jenkins led two DePaul players in double figures with 12 points. DePaul also held an 18-11 advantage on the glass at intermission.
Xavier finished the game 19-of-53 from the floor and 3-of-18 from behind the arc. The Musketeers were also 12-of-15 from the foul line paced by Fincher who was 4-of-4.
DePaul hit 48.3 percent (29-of-60) of its shot attempts and went 15-of-18 from the charity stripe. January led four Blue Demons in double figures with 16 points on 5-of-8 shooting. She also added a team-high five rebounds.
