CINCINNATI -- Xavier women's basketball has announced its 2015-16 non-conference schedule, highlighted by 10 home games at Cintas Center including crosstown rival Cincinnati.
The Musketeers open the season against Evansville on Nov. 14, the first matchup between two schools since 1994. Xavier has won four straight in the series.
Xavier then makes its lone road trip during the non-conference season to Ann Arbor, Mich., to face the Wolverines. Michigan posted a 20-15 record a year ago and advanced to the WNIT Semifinals before being defeated by eventual champion UCLA. The Musketeers won the last meeting between the two schools, 79-75, at Michigan on Nov. 13, 2013.
Xavier begins a nine-game homestand on Nov. 22 against Maryland-Eastern Shore before taking on Southeastern Louisiana (Nov. 25) and Binghamton (Nov. 28). The Musketeers picked up an 89-71 win at Binghamton last season, the first meeting between the two schools.
December opens with `Field Trip Day' on Dec. 3 against Tennessee Tech at noon. The Musketeers then take on Middle Tennessee State -- a squad that posted a 24-10 record last season and advanced to the WNIT Quarterfinals -- on Dec. 6.
Xavier then plays its third midweek game on Dec. 9 against Radford before hosting Cincinnati on Dec. 13. The Musketeers defeated the Bearcats, 72-71, in the Skyline Chili Crosstown Shootout at Cincinnati last year.
Non-conference action concludes against Howard (Dec. 19) and Kennesaw State (Dec. 21). All told, Xavier will face four teams this fall for the first time in school history (Maryland-Eastern Shore, Southeastern Louisiana, Tennessee Tech and Radford).
Head coach Brian Neal led the Musketeers to a 10-win improvement in 2014-15 from the previous season (18-15 vs. 8-23), finishing the year ranked ninth nationally in win improvement. Xavier also posted a winning season and participated in a postseason tournament for the first time since the 2010-11 campaign.
Neal and the Musketeers return four starters and 13 letterwinners for the 2015-16 season.
Season tickets are just $80 and go on sale June 22. Call the Xavier Athletics Ticket Office at 513-745-3411 x7 for more information.
