Makayla Agin posts a match-high 12 kills in the loss

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Makayla Agin posted a match-high 12 kills on Saturday night as the Musketeers dropped their Aloft Seminole Invitational finale to host No. 19 Florida State in three sets (21-25, 24-26, 15-25). XU falls to 4-5 on the year, while the Seminoles improved to 6-3.

Agin finished the night with a .526 hitting percentage and was one of two Musketeers with 10 or more kills. Sofia Peterson also added 10 kills in the loss.

McKena Estes dished out a match-high 20 assists, while Mackenzi Humm added 16. Abbey Bessler and Kristen Massa both chipped in seven kills.

Defensively, Meredith Klare had 15 digs, while Bessler posted 12. Florida State had 3.5 more blocks than Xavier (11.5-7.0). Lauren Frilling paced the Musketeers with five block assists and one solo block.

The Seminoles captured the first set, 25-21, behind a .353 hitting percentage. Xavier led 23-17 in set two before Florida State rallied with a 9-3 run to win the set. Florida State pulled away for the three-set victory, 25-15, behind a .423 hitting percentage.

Xavier returns to action against No. 21 Kentucky on Friday, Sept. 18 at Cintas Center.
