
Men's Golf Finishes Eighth, Wetterich Ties for Seventh at Fighting Irish Gridiron Classic

Freshman finishes 1-under to lead Musketeers at Warren Golf Course
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Daniel Wetterich continued a hot start to his freshman season, firing a 1-under over three rounds to tie for seventh at the Fighting Irish Gridiron Classic on Tuesday.
Xavier finished eighth out of a tough 12-team field with a team score of 873 (+21), lowering its team score by 10 strokes from last week's Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate. St. Mary's and hosting Notre Dame came out on top, firing 2-under scores of 850 for the tourney.
Wetterich, who entered today's round tied for first, fired a 2-over score of 73 on Tuesday afternoon to finish seventh overall. He has finished each of his first two college tournaments under par after posting a 213 (-3) to tie for second last week at the Tiger Intercollegiate.
Jose Montaño led Xavier in the third round, carding an even round of 71 to finish at 6-over and in 29th for the tourney.Â
David Long (t-30th) and Fox Morrissey (t-37th) also finished in the top-40 individually, scoring at 7-over and 9-over respectively. Daniel Jaramillo finished in a tie for 64th after a second straight 77 on day two.
The Musketeers return to the course on Monday, October 5 for the two-day Firestone Invitational in Akron, Ohio.
