CINCINNATI - The Xavier women's soccer team takes to the road but won't travel far, heading across the river to take on Northern Kentucky University at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Live stats will be available from NKUNorse.com and a video broadcast will be available online from ESPN3.
The Musketeers (2-2-0) are coming off a 1-1 weekend started off by a 2-0 win over Toledo in the home opener last Friday. Catherine Allon scored the game winner less than 10 minutes into the match off a pass from Andie Kennard, set up by Samantha Dewey. Skylar Groth knocked in the insurance goal at the 30-minute mark off a cross from Addie Englehart, set up by Kenadie Carlson.Â
Xavier then traveled to Morehead State on Sunday where the Musketeers fell, 2-1, after a second-half rally fell short. Carlson scored the second goal of her sophomore season off a pass from Maddie Tierney, bringing her point-total for the weekend to three, earning BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll accolades.Â
Â
NKU (4-0) is coming of a 1-0 win over Charleston Southern last Sunday. Katelyn Newton scored the winning goal just out of the halftime break off a pass from NKU's leader in goals-scored, Jessica Frey.  Nine different players have scored 14 goals to keep the Norse undefeated.
Â
This marks the fourth match up in series history and the fourth-straight season the Musketeers and the Norse have faced off. Xavier leads the series, 2-0-1, after the Musketeers claimed a pair of 1-0 wins in 2012 and 2013, and then played to a 1-1 draw last season.
Â
Through four games, Xavier has earned a BIG EAST-high 11 assists and 2.75 assists per game, a number that stands at 22nd highest in the NCAA. The Musketeers are led by freshman Samantha Dewey who leads the BIG EAST with three assists, a number that ranks 11th among all players in Division I.
The Musketeers stand in second it three categories among BIG EAST teams: goals (9), goals per game (2.25) and points (29).
Â
Three Musketeers lead the way for Xavier with two goals-scored each through two weeks of the season. Senior Catherine Allon, junior Tori Doss and sophomore Catherine Allon have each knocked in a pair of goals, matching the total number of Musketeers who score multiple goals in the 2014 season. Doss and Carlson have each dished out a pair of assists as well to lead the Musketeers in scoring with six points apiece which ties for second-highest point total among BIG EAST players.
Â
During the first two weeks of the season, the Musketeer offense posted nine goals in four games. This offensive output equals 90 percent of the total goals-scored for the entire 2014 season (10). The nine goals were scored by six different Musketeers, matching the total number of players who scored from last season.
Â
Kenadie Carlson was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the week of Aug. 31 after collecting three points over the weekend. Against Toledo, the sophomore collected an assist after feeding the ball ahead to Addie Englehart. Englehart crossed to Skylar Groth who scored to put the Musketeers up 2-0 in the win. At Morehead State, Carlson collected her second goal of the season off an assist from Maddie Tierney to cut the then-two goal Morehead State lead down to one, 2-1.
