Musketeers Host Golden Eagles on Friday Night

Xavier currently sits in a three-way tie for first place in the BIG EAST standings with a 4-1 record
CINCINNATI – Xavier women's basketball returns to action on Friday, Jan. 15 against Marquette. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. from Cintas Center.
The Musketeers enter the weekend with a 13-3 overall record a 4-1 mark in BIG EAST play to rank tied for first in the conference standings. Xavier has won eight of its last nine games and is 11-1 when playing at Cintas Center.
The Golden Eagles are 6-10 (1-4 BIG EAST) this season, most recently coming off an 87-72 win over Georgetown. Marquette is 2-7 road games and has dropped four of its last five games.
• Xavier went 2-1 last week with road wins at Butler and Providence. The Musketeers hit 85.4 percent of their free throws (41-for-48) and posted a .406 field-goal percentage.
• The Musketeers had a balanced offense as four players averaged over eight points per game, led by Briana Glover's 14.3 points per game. Xavier also averaged 7.3 steals per game last week.
• Xavier is 6-7 all-time against Marquette with a 4-2 mark when playing at home. The Musketeers won both games in the series last year and have won four of the last seven meetings between the two schools.
• Xavier averaged 82.5 points per game in the series last year against the Golden Eagles. The Musketeers also connected on 50.4 percent of their shot attempts and held a +11.0 rebounding margin.
• Briana Glover averaged 20 points per game vs. the Golden Eagles last year, while hitting 76.2 percent of her shot attempts (16-for-21). She was also 7-for-8 from the foul line.

• Senior forward Briana Glover was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday after helping the Musketeers post a 2-1 record in conference play last week. She picks up the honors for the third time this season.
• Xavier has had a player earn the weekly honors six times this year. Raeshaun Gaffney (Jan. 4) and Aliyah Zantt (Dec. 28, Nov. 23) have also been recognized. Glover also earned the honors on Dec. 7 and Dec. 14.
• Glover averaged 14.3 points and 3.7 rebounds per game last week. The Mason, Ohio, native hit 53.6 percent of her shot attempts (15-for-28) and was 13-for-14 from the foul line. She added three blocks and an assist.
• Glover finished the week by scoring a career-high 27 points in the team's 62-54 win at Providence on Sunday. She was 10-for-14 from the floor and 7-for-8 from the foul line. She also added a game-high eight rebounds.
• Briana Glover ranks second on the team in scoring, averaging 11.6 points per game. She also ranks fifth in the BIG EAST in field-goal percentage (.504) and fourth in free-throw percentage (.820).
• Xavier scored a season-high 38 points in the paint at Providence. The Musketeers also scored 18 points off of turnovers, the fourth time this season Xavier has scored 18 or more points off of turnovers.
• Xavier had 10 steals at Providence, paced by Aliyah Zantt who had five. The Musketeers have had 10 or more steals in a game three times this season.
• Aliyah Zantt ranks third in the BIG EAST in steals per game (2.1). The senior guard has 34 steals on the year.

• Aliyah Zantt pulled down a career-high 17 rebounds against Villanova, the most in a game by a XU player since Jenna Crittendon's 17 rebounds against Wright State on Dec. 15, 2012.
• Sophomore Marquia Turner dished out a career-high eight assists in the win over Maryland Eastern Shore, the most by a Xavier player since Ty O'Neill had eight versus High Point on Nov. 19, 2012.
• Xavier was picked to finish sixth in the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches Poll as announced at the conference's annual media day at Madison Square Garden on Oct. 14.
• Xavier will play 19 games at Cintas Center this season, the most in school history. The Musketeers previously set the record last year when they hosted 18 games, including two postseason tournament contests.
