Turnovers Prove Costly in Road Loss at Seton Hall

Xavier commits 20 turnovers, Pirates convert miscues into 30 points
SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - Xavier women's basketball dropped an 82-66 road contest at Seton Hall on Friday night at Walsh Gymnasium. Turnovers proved costly as the Pirates converted 20 Xavier miscues into 30 points.

Xavier moved to 14-5 (5-3 BIG EAST), while the Pirates improved to 15-4 (5-3 BIG EAST) on the year. The Musketeers also fell to 0-5 in the all-time series with Seton Hall.

Jenna Crittendon led four Musketeers who scored in double figures with a season-high 17 points. The senior guard scored 14 points in the second half on 5-for-9 shooting.

Raeshaun Gaffney added 16 points, while Aliyah Zantt had 11 and Briana Glover had 10. Leah Schaefer added seven points and a team-high six rebounds off the bench.

Seton Hall held a 35-29 advantage on the glass with Seton Hall's Tabetha Richardson-Smith pulling down a game-high seven rebounds.

Xavier led by as many as 10 points, 21-11, with 1:29 left in the first quarter before the Pirates ended the quarter on a 7-0 run to make the score, 21-18. Seton Hall scored five unanswered points to open the second quarter and cap a 12-0 run, regaining the lead, 23-21.

The Pirates outscored Xavier, 28-9, in the second quarter to build a 16-point halftime lead, 46-30. Seton Hall maintained its double-figure lead for remainder of the game as Xavier only closed within 11 points, 51-40, late in the third quarter.

Seton Hall finished the game hitting 54 percent (34-for-63) of its shot attempts, while the Musketeers were limited to a .373 field-goal percentage. Both teams hit seven 3-pointers in the game.

Xavier was 21-for-24 from the foul line, paced by Glover who was 7-for-8. Seton Hall was 7-for-8 from the charity stripe.

Richardson-Smith finished with a game-high 27 points on 11-for-19 shooting, while Shakena Richardson added 23 points on 11-for-15 shooting for the Pirates.
