Xavier women place 11th, men take 21st
PEORIA, Ill. – Xavier cross country wrapped up regular-season action at the Bradley Classic on Friday at the Newman Golf Course. The women placed 11th (out of 31), while the men took 21st (out of 27).
The meet served as the Musketeers final tune-up before the BIG EAST Championships on Friday, Friday, Oct. 28.
Madeline Britton - 13th, 21:15.20 *tied for the 10th fastest time in XU history
Gina Genco - 47th, 21:56.40
Allison Sinning - 64th, 22:06.40
Rachael Sollman - 89th, 22:30.50
Alondra Hoyos - 99th, 22:30.50
"In the women's JV race I thought Haley ran really strong. She's been dealing with a breathing issue the whole season, but was able to overcome that today and have a solid improvement from where's she's been."
"In the women's varsity race we got our really well through the first 400 meters, but we continued to press a little too long. Our top three ran solid races, but we had a few girls in our top five that had an off day. We did have a few girls step up today and run better then they have, but because we don't have a ton of depth, all of our top five need to be racing to their potential each and every race. Rachael Sollman was one of those who really came through and had her best college race. We still have lot more to give as a team and we're going to spend the next two weeks figuring it out and getting ready for BIG EAST."
Garrett Knapik - 78th, 25:47.40
Grant Parrelli - 98th, 26:03.10
Aaron Peterson - 107th, 26:10.30
Matt Mekaelian - 117th, 26:18.30
John Hautz - 128th, 26:25.50
"On the men's side, Garrett Knapik had a solid day to lead the group, but we should have had four other guys that were right with him. I thought Grant Parrelli also ran a good race and was more focused then he's been in the past. Our top two guys, Charlie and Grayson had some medical issues during the race so that really hurt our chances of beating conference rival Creighton."
The meet served as the Musketeers final tune-up before the BIG EAST Championships on Friday, Friday, Oct. 28.
