Musketeers Drain 13 Three Pointers in 83-46 Win Over North Florida

The 13 three pointers were the most by a Xavier team since March 22, 2011
CINCINNATI - Xavier women's basketball hit 61.9 percent (13-for-21) of its three pointers on Tuesday night as the Musketeers defeated North Florida, 83-46, at Cintas Center.
The Musketeers moved to 3-0 on the year, while the Ospreys dropped to 3-2.
• The 13 three pointers by the Musketeers were the most in a game since March 22, 2011. Xavier hit 14 in an 85-75 loss to Louisville in the second round of the NCAA Tournament at Cintas Center.
• The Musketeers hit 51.7 percent of their shot attempts (31-for-60), their highest field-goal percentage since posting a .549 field-goal percentage at Marquette on Dec. 30, 2014.
• Xavier dished out 24 assists in the win, the most assists by a Xavier team since Feb. 1, 2011. The Musketeers had 27 in a 102-51 win over La Salle.
• Imani Partlow scored a career-high 15 points on 7-for-11 shooting. The forward also matched Leach Schaefer for the game high in rebounds as both players had eight.
• Leah Schaefer also had eight points on 3-for-6 shooting, while adding seven assists and three blocks. The seven assists matched her career high.
• Marquia Turner also had seven assists, while adding nine points on 3-for-5 shooting. Martha Thompson had a career-high five assists. The redshirt-junior entered the game with five assists in 18 career games.
• Raeshaun Gaffney scored a game-high 19 points on 6-for-10 shooting. She was also 4-for-7 from behind the arc and 3-for-4 from the foul line. The senior guard added two assists and six rebounds.
• Kindell Fincher scored in double figures for the third straight game with 12 points on 4-for-9 shooting. The redshirt-sophomore was 4-for-7 from three-point range.
• Xavier held a 45-31 advantage on the glass. The Musketeers also held a 34-22 advantage in points in the paint.
• Freshman guard Na'Teshia Owens also had seven points on 3-for-4 shooting, while adding seven rebounds.
• Xavier has held an opponent under 50 points for the second straight game this year. Over the last two seasons, the Musketeers have held an opponent under 50 points eight times.
• The 83 points is the most by a Xavier team since Feb. 6, 2015. The Musketeers defeated Marquette, 91-72, at Cintas Center.
• Xavier started the game on a 14-5 run fueled by eight points from Raeshaun Gaffney. The senior guard was 3-for-3 from the floor with two 3-pointers in the opening quarter. Xavier led, 16-5, at the end of the first quarter.
• The Musketeers went 7-for-9 from behind the arc in the second period as they built a 35-12 advantage at the 4:46 mark. Xavier finished the first half hitting 62.5 percent of its three pointers (10-for-16).
• The Musketeers held a 27-16 advantage on the glass in the first half, led by Leah Schaefer who had five rebounds.
• North Florida hit back-to-back baskets to open the second half, but the Musketeers would out score the Ospreys, 17-15, in the period to take a 60-37 lead into the final quarter.
• Leah Schaefer and Raeshaun Gaffney both had four points in the quarter to lead the Musketeers.
• Xavier hit 69.2 percent of its shot attempts in the final quarter, going 9-for-13 from the floor. The Musketeers led by as many as 39, 83-44, in the closing minutes of the game.
• Xavier returns to action on Sunday, Nov. 27 against Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m. from Cintas Center.
