CINCINNATI – Xavier cross country travels to the NCAA Great Lakes Regional on Friday, Nov. 11. The meet is being held at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course in Madison, Wis.

MEN'S OUTLOOK

MEN'S ROSTER: William Becker, Benjamin Bockoven, John Hautz, Garrett Knapik, Matt Mekaelian, Mason Moore, Grant Parrelli, Aaron Peterson

NOTABLES
• The Musketeers placed eighth at the BIG EAST Championships on Oct. 28. Grant Parrelli led the squad with a 34th-place finish (26:08.50).
• Xavier placed 26th (out of 30 teams) at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional last year. Garrett Knapik led the team in the 10K race, crossing the finish line in a time of 33:17.1 to place 124th.

QUOTING ORNER
"We'll be going into the Great Lakes Regional on Friday without our No. 1 guy Grayson Jenkins, but if we have five guys that can run as a pack and finish within 30-35 seconds of one another we can still be successful. The goal for our men's team will be to improve upon their finish from last year, end the season on a positive note and race to their potential. Individually, I'd like to have three or four of our guys crack the top-10 list for the men's 10K."

NOTABLES
• The Musketeers were ranked 14th in the most recent (Oct. 31) U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Great Lakes Region rankings.
• Xavier last competed at the BIG EAST Championships on Oct. 28. The Musketeers placed sixth with Madeline Britton pacing the squad as the junior finished the 6K race in 23rd place (22:12.30).
• Xavier placed 10th (out of 31 teams), tying their all-time highest regional finish, at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional last season.

QUOTING ORNER
"I'm very confident in our women's team going into Friday. We have a lot of experienced runners in the lineup, all of the girls love the course and I think it suits our training and racing style well. So far this season the girls haven't raced to their potential all on the same day, so that's the biggest thing we're going to focus on this week. If they can stay more mentally relaxed over the first half of the race and close better over the last 1K then they did at BIG EAST, it will be our best race of the season."
