Xavier Posts 10 Top Five Finishes at Stan Lyons Invitational

Musketeers opened 2016 outdoor track and field season on Saturday
INDIANAPOLIS – Xavier track and field opened its 2016 outdoor season on Saturday afternoon at the Stan Lyons Invitational hosted by Butler. The Musketeers posted 10 top-five finishes on the afternoon.
Victoria Chiller – 800-meter dash (2:18.03), 2nd place
Kara Robinson – 400-meter hurdles (1:05.43), 1st place
Vanessa Johnson – 400-meter hurdles (1:09.35), 4th place
Sydney Larkin – 200-meter dash (26.60), 5th place
Onya Edwards – Long Jump (4.97m), 3rd place
Karmen Auble – Long Jump (4.81m), 5th place
Elizabeth Acker – Shot Put (10.49m), 5th place
Gina Genco – 3,000-meter run (10:24.17), 6th place
Elizabeth Acker – Javelin (30.30m),
Haley Jerabek – 1,500-meter run (4:50.78), 7th place
Rachael Sollman – 1,500-meter run (4:51.15 – new PR), 8th place
"Tori Chiller had her highest place ever in a college meet, finishing second in the women's 800-meter run. Tori was in roughly fifth place with 200 meters to go and she made a great move off the last turn. She was very close to the win, but ran out of room in the final stretch. I was really happy with how aggressive she raced. She's running with confidence and it really showed today."
"Competing in her first 400-meter hurdles in both high school or college, Kara Robinson had our only win of the meet. Coming off a great indoor season in the hurdles, Kara shows a lot of promise in the event. I think this has the potential to be her best event in college. "
"I was happy with our women's team score. Although we didn't beat Butler, I'm satisfied with 3rd place with as many girls as we held out of the meet."

Zachary Polk – 200-meter dash (22.20), 2nd place
Russell Platt – 200-meter dash (22.22), 3rd place
"Zach and Russell both scored the men's highest places in the 200-meter dash. Their times were solid for an early seas meet in the cold."
Xavier returns to action at the Raleigh Relays hosted by North Carolina State on March 25-26.
