SWEEP: Fallon Leads Xavier to Victory in Series Finale with Central Michigan

Junior outfielder was 3-for-4 with four RBI and a run
CINCINNATI – Junior Matt Fallon drove in four of the Musketeers seven runs on Sunday afternoon, leading Xavier to a 7-4 victory in the series finale with Central Michigan. Xavier swept the series and has now won four straight - improving to 7-12 on the year. Central Michigan dropped to 4-15 overall.
• Xavier matched its season high in stolen bases with seven. The Musketeers recorded 16 stolen bases in the series with Central Michigan.
• Will LaRue had three stolen bases for the second time in as many games. Chris Givin also added two stolen bases.
• Two Musketeers had multi-hit games in Mat Fallon (3-for-4, R, 4 RBI) and Chris Givin (2-for-3, 2 R, BB).
• The Musketeers also had two home runs in the win as they finished the weekend with six against the Chippewas.
• Starter Trent Astle went 4.1 innings, surrendering eight hits and four runs. He also recorded three strikeouts.
• Damien Richard (1-1) earned his first career win, tossing 4.2 scoreless innings of relief. The sophomore recorded four strikeouts and only allowed two hits.
THIRD INNING: Matt Fallon hit a lead-off solo home run to left field to score the first of two runs. Daniel Rizzie picked up his second home run of the season two at-bats later for the final run of the frame.
FOURTH INNING: Nate Soria hit a RBI double down the left field line for the first run of the inning. A two out RBI single down the right field line scored Soria later in the frame for the second run.
SIXTH INNING: Matt Fallon hit a two-out, two RBI single up the middle to break up a 4-4 tie with Central Michigan.
SEVENTH INNING: Daniel Rizzie collected an RBI with a ground out to short stop, scoring Will LaRue for the final insurance run.
• Xavier returns to action at Ohio State on Tuesday, March 22. First pitch is slated for 5:05 p.m.
