Andre Jernigan homers twice, triples as Musketeers improve to 5-0 at home
CINCINNATI – Andre Jernigan homered twice and tripled in Xavier baseball's series finale against UC, leading XU to a 6-3 win at Hayden Field on Saturday.
The Musketeers improved to 5-0 at home with the win and snapped UC's 10-game win streak in the process.
XU is now 8-15 on the year, while UC drops to 11-12.

• Xavier collected eight hits as a team and received multi-hit efforts from Dan Rizzie (2-for-4), Joe Gellenbeck (2-for-4, HR, 3 RBI) and Andre Jernigan (3-for-4, 3 R, 2 HR, 2 RBI).
• Rylan Bannon (1-for-4) also added a hit for the Musketeers.
• The Musketeers went back-to-back, getting solo homers from Gellenbeck and Jernigan in the fifth inning. It was the second time XU has had back-to-back homers this season.
• Jernigan homered twice for the second time in his career (April 24, 2015 vs. Georgetown), scored three times for the third time in his career and set a new career-high with 11 total bases.Â
• Gellenbeck and Jernigan are now tied for the team lead in home runs with six apiece.
• Gellenbeck has homered in all six of XU's weekend series this season.
• Xavier now has 16 homers in its last eight games.
• Rizzie has turned it on at the plate in his last seven games, going 11-for-27 (.407) with three homers, seven runs scored and six RBI.

• Brad Kirschner (3-1) made his second start of the season and was solid, working five innings and striking out three while allowing just two earned runs.
• Damien Richard entered in the sixth with two on and nobody out, getting XU out of a jam with just one run allowed. He would finish with two strikeouts in two innings, allowing just one earned run.
• Garrett Schilling stretched his personal scoreless streak to nine innings, lowering his ERA to 1.98 and keeping UC off the scoreboard over the last two innings with a pair of strikeouts. He earned his fourth save of the season.

SECOND INNING:Â Andre Jernigan led off the inning with a triple to left center, coming around to score on a fielder's choice and making it a 1-0 lead.
THIRD INNING:Â Matt Fallon led off the inning with a walk, advancing on a bunt by Will LaRue before Blaine Griffiths worked a one out walk to put runners at first and second for Dan Rizzie. An infield hit by Rizzie loaded the bases and Joe Gellenbeck brought Fallon and Griffiths around on a double to left.
FIFTH INNING:Â Joe Gellenbeck and Andre Jernigan swatted back-to-back solo home runs with two outs in the inning.
EIGHTH INNING:Â Andre Jernigan led off the inning with another solo shot, parking one over the fence in left center to make it 6-3.

• Xavier returns to action on Tuesday, hosting Wright State in a midweek non-conference game at 3 p.m. ET.
