Sophomore Jose Montaño Sits in Second Place Heading into Final Round in Arkansas

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Xavier men's golf team concluded the first and second rounds of the Little Rock First Tee Classic this afternoon. Jose Montaño is alone in second place heading into the final round. The sophomore fired a 70 (-2) in the morning and finished with a 74 (+2) in the afternoon for a total score of 144 (E). Montaño leads the team with 26 pars.

Xavier, as a team, is in 12th place. The Musketeers shot a 308 (+20) in the morning round, and finished with a 305 (+17) for a combined score of 613 (+37).

John Burger is tied for 27th individually after shooting 74-77 the first two rounds for a total score of 151 (+7). The graduate student leads the team with seven birdies.

Final round begins tomorrow morning with an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start.
