Xavier Drops Road Game at No. 12 Kentucky

Musketeers return to action this weekend for three games at Illinois State
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Xavier baseball was undone by a big sixth inning on Wednesday night, falling 6-1 to No. 12 Kentucky at Cliff Hagan Stadium.Â
Xavier (8-17) dropped its second straight, while Kentucky improved to 18-7 overall.Â

• XU collected just four hits on the night, tied for its third-lowest total of the season.Â
• Dan Rizzie (1-for-3, BB) picked up a hit for the fourth straight game and is now 14-for-33 (.424) in his last nine games.
• Rylan Bannon (1-for-3, 2B, RBI) provided Xavier's first run in the seventh inning, lining a ball down the left field line to score David Morton.
• Stephen Haring collected his first career hit, a leadoff homer, in the ninth inning. It was the fourth at-bat of the freshman's college career.
• The Musketeers now have homered at least once in nine of their last 10 games, totaling 18 longballs over that span.

• Greg Jacknewitz (0-5) was solid over a five inning start, allowing two earned runs and striking out three while scattering five hits.
• Trey Schramm struggled in the sixth, inheriting a baserunner and surrendering four earned runs.
